My Daily Tarot – Four of Wands

I’ve decided to get back into practice with a daily tarot reading. Something I haven’t done in nearly two years.

gt_4wands

12/11/16 – Four of Wands

You have achieved a satisfying goal. Take time to celebrate this. Be proud of what you have done. Be aware of dissatisfaction. This is not the time to be critical of your accomplishments.

Well, that definitely hits close to home. I’ve been scheduling some of my posts for this upcoming week here on ATFWHI and I recall in one of them being proud for (nearly) finishing Seeing You (1 part left to go – scheduled for later today) and yet being frustrated that I hadn’t achieved every goal I’d set for myself this past year. I won’t go and change the post, but I will take a moment to have pride in my accomplishment.

I’ve said before (somewhere) that I won’t look at the lost opportunities from this past year as failures. Despite the illnesses and the depression, I still accomplished quite a bit this year – 29 Horror Tales, 26 Science Fiction stories (and one of them has turned into a serial collaboration with Keith Channing), and two novellas (over 50k words each) –  The Stacked Deck and Seeing You. I’ve also written some flash fiction, short fiction, drabbles (100 word stories) and poetry this year. So I can in no way say that this has been an unproductive year. I do have a lot to be proud of and I need to be celebrating!

In case you are curious, I am using the Gilded Tarot. You can find it here.

Celebrate the Small Things – 05.27.16

Celebrate blog hop

Today I am celebrating the continued warmth, during the days and the nights. We’ve been in the high 80s now for well over  week during the day and into the 60s at night. So although I am not freezing me arse off now, I am having issues with the humidity. Still, I won’t complain. I deal better with that than the cold these days. Hopefully Dad will put my a/c in this weekend and the humidity issue will be resolved.

I am also celebrating that my health is beginning to improve. This whatever flu bug or cold thing I’ve had for well over a week is finally leaving my body. I am still fairly lethargic, but back on solid foods. Now I just need to focus on my mental health *sighs*

And finally, I am celebrating that tomorrow, the zucchini plants go into the ground. Those little buggers are taking their sweet time growing, but have sprang up a lot in the last few days.

Looks like a storm is headed this way… about time to get off the ‘net.

What are you celebrating this week, dear readers? Feel free to share with me in comments.

Celebrate the Small Things – 05.20.16

Celebrate blog hop

Today I am celebrating that we’ve finally got most of the garden in. I say ‘we’ but truthfully Dad has done most of the work. He did all of the tilling, laid down the felt, worked the grid and planted most of the plants. Mostly all I’ve done is poke some holes and lay in a few plants. Still, it has felt good to actually help this year. My health wasn’t very good last year, so I didn’t get to do any gardening. We just have the zucchini to get into the ground, which will probably be some time on Monday since we are buying the plants this year due to the cold weather and late planting. The zucchini wasn’t ready when we bought the other plants. I can’t wait to make the first stirfry or pot of soup from those fresh vegetables!

Since I’ve not felt well the past few days, there’s little else to celebrate. I am just barely keeping up with writing projects because my body is just exhausted. I guess I could celebrate that I am still alive… yes, we will celebrate that.

What are you celebrating this week, dear readers? Feel free to share with me in comments.

Celebrate the Small Things – 05.14.16

Celebrate blog hop

Today I am celebrating a day late because I took the entire day off from blogging yesterday. I haven’t had a real day off (except when the power was off from a storm or my internet provider was down for a bit) since January. I’ve been on an emotional roller coaster for a few weeks now and really just needed some down time. It felt good to just unwind, recharge and ground myself for a day.

I am also celebrating the reconnect with a very old friend, someone I haven’t seen in nearly 30 years. In my late teens, she was a huge part of my life and often gave me spiritual advice and hope. We met in an unlikely place, the exit at Walmart. During our brief conversation, we both acknowledged that neither of us had wanted to go shopping yesterday, but felt compelled to just go anyway. I don’t think it was mere chance that we met up again after so many years. I am sure it was fate. We exchanged numbers and I hope to see her again soon.

And finally, I am celebrating that I have rededicated myself to the low carb lifestyle. After being off of it for two months, I saw how quickly my body descended back into the health issues that I had prior to beginning the low carb lifestyle last August. I witnessed the return of elevated blood sugar readings, body aches and mood swings. So along with taking a day off yesterday to regroup, I went back to the low carb lifestyle. This is even harder to transition back to this time than it was in August. I am such a carboholic and with any addiction, falling off the wagon and getting back on again is tough, but I am determined to stick with it this time.

What are you celebrating this week, dear readers? Feel free to share with me in comments.

Celebrate the Small Things – 05.06.16

Celebrate blog hop

Today I am celebrating that Celebrate the Small Things falls on a Friday and not yesterday. I was in a deep, dark funk yesterday and wouldn’t have felt like celebrating anything but my bed. Today, the mood has lifted some and I am feeling much better.

I am also celebrating more writing projects. This month, I am writing a story a day throughout the month of May and am almost a week into it. It feels strange to just write general fiction after writing science fiction for a month. I’ve also decided to begin writing a memoir, so that should be different and hopefully exciting at the same time.

I’d like to be celebrating in the garden, but it has been uber chilly the last few days, raining and just generally blah. The weather should improve beginning tomorrow, so hopefully we can get some plants in the ground soon.

There’s not much else to celebrate right now. I would like to wish all of the Mothers out there a Happy Mother’s Day. I am not a mother and my own has passed on, so celebrate for me. Will ya? *smiles*

Celebrate the Small Things – 04.29.16

Celebrate blog hop

I didn’t celebrate anything last week. My heart and soul died and I was just too devastated. I couldn’t bring myself to celebrate when such a beautiful soul had left Earth. I’ve finally come to terms with his death now and feel it is finally okay to do a little bit of celebrating.

I celebrated finally meeting my great-nephew, Hunter this past week. He is just over 2 years old now. Wednesday was the first time I’ve met him since I returned home from OK. He reminds me so much of his father, Cody, who is a special young man. We share our birthday, so I have a different kind of closeness with him that I don’t have with his siblings. My niece, Katie, also brought over her daughter Abby for me to see again. She is so adorable and has the chubbiest cheeks!

I am also celebrating that tomorrow I will successfully have completed my 2nd year doing the A2Z. This year I tackled two blogs. If you are interested, you can catch up with them here: My A2Zs @ As the Fates Would Have It & Promptly Written

And I am about to celebrate the beginning of May and tackling another project. I will be writing a story a day on Promptly Written with Julia and company @ StoryADay In May.

Celebrate the Small Things – 04.16.16

Celebrate blog hop

I am a day late celebrating this week. You can read why HERE, so I don’t have to rehash the details. There’s not much to celebrate from this past week, but here are just a couple of things.

I am celebrating my continued Science Fiction flash fiction pieces over at Promptly Written for the A2Z. I think I’ve written some pretty good ones so far for the challenge and received some wonderful comments. Thank you!

I’ve also received some wonderful comments on this blog for my A2Z People Who Inspire Me posts. Thank you!

I was able to spend a few minutes with my niece Katie and her mother yesterday. It’s been months since I’ve seen either one and it was so good to see them and chat with them a few minutes.

And finally, I am celebrating the lifting of the dark cloud and deep funk that has been hanging over my head for the last couple of days (that’s the HERE link above).

What are you celebrating this week, dear readers? Feel free to share with me in comments.

Celebrate the Small Things – 04.08.16

Celebrate blog hop

Today I am celebrating a first successful week of A2Zing. So far, I have read some amazing blogs filled with great tips on writing, animals, and crafts, plus some wonderful fiction, mythology, and genealogy. I am amazed at some of the work some bloggers have put into their posts.

I am also celebrating a re-dedication I’ve made to some side projects. I’ve been sketching them out in a notebook, figuring out plans and setting schedules to accomplish them.

I would like to be celebrating Spring in all her grandeur, but Winter seems to be holding on with a vice. Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow night.

What are you celebrating this week, dear readers? Feel free to share with me in comments.

Celebrate blog hop

Today I am celebrating a successful month of writing for March. I did it! I completed my Noir-style WhoDunIt, The Stacked Deck. It came in just shy of 35K words.

I am also celebrating the beginning of the A2Z Challenge. Both here with People Who Inspire Me and on my blog Promptly Written with Science Fiction Flash Fiction. It should be a fun and exciting month!

Celebrate the Small Things – 03.11.16

Celebrate blog hop

Today I am celebrating…

My good friend Annette has made me a Guest Author on her blog Annette’s Place. We’ve only known one another for a little over a month, but we’ve clicked amazingly well. Her blog is a motivational one where she explores topics of love, peace, joy and yes, motivation. I’ve yet to make a guest post there, but feel free to stop by her blog and see what all she’s been up to there.

I am also celebrating 11 installments to my Noir-style Mystery, The Stacked Deck. I am having a great time with my lead character, Jack Diamond. He’s a hard-nosed PI and ex-cop with a passion for Italian women. Feel free to stop by and have a read. Each part is a quick read, none over 1500 words.

And finally, I am celebrating the return of Spring! We’ve had gloriously sunshiny days in the high 70s here in Virginia the past few days. The nights have been in the high 50s and I’ve been sleeping with the window open. Probably hasn’t helped this cold/allergy thing I have going on, but the cool night air sure feels good on my burning feet.

It’s time for more coffee and more writing… Will see you all next week for more celebrations!

What are you celebrating this week, dear readers? Feel free to share with me in comments.
