I am feeling a bit nostalgic today because it is an old friend’s birthday and she and I are no longer in contact. Back in the day (mid-90s), she and I would listen to the Indigo Girls during road trips. We knew every word to the entire Indigo Girls album (their 2nd, but first studio produced album) and would sing it. She would sing Emily’s parts and I would sing Amy’s. Those were some great times in my life. As a tribute to her, I give you today’s offering:

I had this name pop up on my Twitter feed. They’d just followed me. It was an Australian band named Lord. The name alone intrigued me, so of course I had to check them out. And OMG! They are incredible. Rock, old-style. I may not be a rock star, but the lyrics do speak to me. The choice of a lonely life – mine more solitary than lonely, but I really grok these lyrics. My brother recently introduced me to a Swedish Heavy Metal band named Ghost B.C. (sometimes just referred to as Ghost). I absolutely love the guitar rips and their music reminds me a bit of Metallica. Very dramatic. This is some really pumped-up music and great for writing, at least it is for me *bigcheesygrin* It also delights my dark soul. The lead singer calls himself Papa Emeritus and the other group members are referred to as merely Nameless Ghouls. This song, Cirice, earned them the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.

For today’s Song Lyric Sunday, I am introducing one of my favorite bands: Apocalyptica. They are a Finnish orchestral metal band. They say about themselves, “Classically trained, metal inspired.” The group currently consists of three cellists,  Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, and Antero Manninen, along with drummer Mikko Sirén. They’ve done a lot of covers, including Metallica and Rammstein. As well as a lot of their own music featuring other singers. This song is a cover for Rammstein’s song “Seemann,” featuring Nina Hagen and it is in German:
