02.26.16 – End of Day Notes

What I did today: It’s been an odd day. I stayed awake until about 4:30 this morning and got back up around 11 am. I finished my writing, read a few emails, at a late breakfast and was sitting here freezing my arse off. So I just said “fuck it” and crawled back into bed. I thought my calendar would alert me around 6 pm so I could get back up, but I had it sitting open on the desktop and the alarm didn’t go off, so I slept until 7 pm. Woke up, got some hot tea, turned on my small heater and settled down to read some posts for challenges. I am caught up with last Saturday’s posts now. Still have the rest of the week to read. Way behind on emails, per usual. Will try to read some of those tonight. My entertainment tonight will consist of The Maltese Falcon (for research) and then another X-Men movie (for pleasure), if I manage to stay out of my bed long enough to watch them both. The sleep demons are already attacking me and I’ve only been up for 2 hours. Maybe I need a pot of coffee instead of this tea.

What I learned today: A cold me is a miserable me. My bed knows how to tempt me too easily.

What I am most proud of today: Not sure, if anything… maybe that although I napped, it wasn’t half the night? Probably not that proud of a moment, huh?

What did you do today? Learn any lessons? Have a reason to be proud? Share your thoughts with me in the comments!

Thoughts on Blogging – Likes vs. Comments

I follow a lot of blogs, like many bloggers do, both here on WordPress and on Blogger. On WordPress, I receive some updates via email and other blogs I read via the WordPress Reader. I have a tonnage of emails. At present, well over 700 to read, all of them from blogs.

I like to be engaged with the blogs I follow. Generally, I try to tweet, comment, like and reblog often. I do it to share others work. It is time-consuming, and yet I enjoy it.

I feel guilty if I just “like” a blog post and run. I do it sometimes though. I do try to comment on at least one or two blog posts from those I follow a week and leave comments when I am inspired to write something. I don’t just want to leave a random blah-blah, meaningless comment.

All of this does mean that I am generally days and days behind on people’s blogs. So if you see a stranger stopping by long after you’ve forgotten about a post you’ve written… well, that would be me.

What are your thoughts about “likes” versus “comments”, do you do one or the other or both? Let me know below!

02.04.16 – End of Day Notes

Way back in 2014, I briefly began this endeavor and then became ill and never worked on it again. I think it is time to reprise this and began again.

What I did today: Today has been a busy day. I completed my writings for my blogs. Read some new and already-following blogs, commented, and did some reblogs. Began gathering idea for some new poems. Read some emails. Cooked dinner. And am now winding down as I’ve been up for 12 hours and the sleep demons are attacking me.

What I learned today: I have way too many emails to read on an average day and am already a week behind.

What I am most proud of today: Normally, I would tackle emails first thing in the morning, but since the beginning of the year, I have made writing the top priority. I think this is something I can be proud about each and every day of this new year.

A Reason to Laugh and Smile

I will admit it, my life has been hard. Maybe not as hard as some people’s lives, but hard nonetheless. I don’t laugh easily and I don’t smile much. But this quick email from a friend today, made me do both:

Hey.
When sleeping beauty
wakes up call snow white
and we’ll chat for awhile.

She knows I am on an odd sleep schedule… staying up all night and sleeping during the day. Hence the Sleeping Beauty reference. And since it is snowing outside, well that’s why the Snow White reference. It was clever and amusing. Probably why I love her so.
