#WeekendCoffeeShare: 5/21/16

If we were having coffee, I would invite you to the kitchen table. It’s another chilly morning and raining again. I’d offer you some croissants and espresso and tell you that the croissants aren’t homemade, but I did get them from a little deli. They are hot, fresh and buttery! And there’s strawberry jam to go with them. I’d also clue you in on how I keep the espresso from tasting bitter.

“I add just a dash of cinnamon to the grinds when I brew it. Even my dad will drink it this way!”

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that we finally got the garden laid down. An endeavor that usually only takes a couple of days, ended up taking over a week, between rainfalls and cold temperatures. We had to purchase plants this year because the cold kept us from starting from seeds, so hopefully even planting this late will still yield a nice harvest.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you how miserable I’ve been the past few days – fevers, chills, tummy issues, elevated blood pressure, and little to no appetite. I have no idea what’s causing it – a cold or flu bug, or if I am just rundown for whatever reason.

“I spent the majority of the day in bed yesterday. Completely unusual for me,” I’d tell you.

And finally, if we were having coffee, I would thank you for listening to my complaints and bag you up a few croissants to take home with you. “Hopefully we can do this again soon,” I’d tell you as I handed you an umbrella and waved goodbye.

If we were having coffee, what would YOU tell me? Let me know in comments!

  2. Hope you’re feeling better! Great news about your garden, we haven’t had one in so long.. I did get some basil and cilantro pods, we’ll see how that goes..

  3. I am always learning something new while blogging and that touch of cinnamon in the coffee sounds great. Will have to try it.
Sorry to hear you’re under the weather. Hope you feel better soon.
On the weather front, we’ve been having beautiful weather down here in Sydney but the radio said this morning that the El Nino was over and our unseasonably warm weather was over.
That could mean that lovely warm weather is on its way to you.
    xx Rowena

    • Thanks Rowena.. I do hope you will try the cinnamon.
I am feeling some better. Still not 100%, but on the mends.
Yes, we have finally received some nice warm weather the past couple of days. I’ve mostly been in bed though, but hope to begin enjoying it now that I am feeling a bit better… hope it doesn’t get too cold on you down in Sydney.

      • Feeling snap-frozen at the moment. We don’t handle the cold well and our homes aren’t built for it and we’re trying not to build up a huge heating bill. It was down to 9 degrees Cecius this morning. You should have heard everyone talking about it around town. We’ve been so spoilt with good weather. Take care xx Rowena

  4. Such a good idea!

If we were having coffee, I’d definitely be munching on croissants while listening to you. I’d tell you a bit of how I’m doing with my writing. Maybe gripe about the dayjob…

  5. Thank you for the coffee and yummy croissant. I hope you’re feeling better. We’ve been contending with rain and colder than usual temperatures, too. I’m kind of enjoying it because summer is just around the corner and that means hot and humid days. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! πŸ™‚

  6. I don’t often drink espresso but the cinnamon sounds like a perfect addition. Sorry you’ve been feeling under the weather – hope some warm temps and sunshine will sort things out pronto. Wishing you a wonderful week.

    • Thank you, Deborah. The cinnamon gives it a smooth flavor.. so yummy! I think I am on the mends.. and yes, we will be getting some warmer weather soon.. perhaps too warm.. lol

  7. Thanks for the coffee and croissants! Could you send the rain over this way? There has hardly been a rainy season where I live – it’s so hot all the time! Hope you feel better soon πŸ™‚

    • Oh, the cardamon sounds good… I wish I could still do the salt, but with the elevated blood pressure these days, I am trying to stay away from it some… just salting my veggies a little these days

      • A little pinch, that’s all. Please be careful not to reduce your salt intake too much. That can be equally as devastating. A family friend of ours did and went into cardiac arrest. Fortunately her hb knew how to do CPR. Research is now showing that too low a salt intake is unhealthy as is too low a fat intake. It is in fact better to eat full fat foods than low fat.
