If we were having coffee, I would invite you into my sitting room and we would curl up on the sofa with a blanket over our laps. It’s a chilly day here in SW Virginia. Hasn’t even reached the 50s yet. We would sip piping hot espresso and I would offer you a slice of snowball cake.
“My mother always made this for Easter and the 4th of July,” I would explain. “For Easter, she shaped the cake like a rabbit, but I am not as gifted as she was. It’s just a sheet cake with jelly beans on top, I’m afraid.”
I would go on to explain that the cake is made with angel food cake, pineapple, gelatin and whipped topping with coconut sprinkled on top. It has a light, airy taste to it and is so delicious!
If we were having coffee, I would show you the extension cord that I burnt and melted. It was connected to my heater, but I forgot to keep it up off the carpet.
“Thank goodness it didn’t burn the house down,” I would say with a worried look on my face.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that in just 5 days, I will complete my 31 part whodunit over at A Whispered Wind. I am excited to get to the end, but I will miss my MC.
“Then on Friday, I will begin Science Fiction!” I would say as I rub my hands together and laugh maniacally. “From Horror in February to Mystery and then Science Fiction. Ain’t no grass growing under these feet!”
If we were having coffee, I would apologize for cutting this visit short.
“I’ve pulled 3 all-niters in a row,” I would say. “I think I need some sleep now.”
I would slice you off an extra slice of cake and send it home with you in a doggy bag and tell you that I will see you again next week.
“Have a happy Easter tomorrow!” I would say as we wave goodbye.
If we were having coffee, what would YOU tell me? Let me know in comments!
