For today’s #joyfuljan, I find joy in chick-flicks.
Once again sleep has eluded me and I found myself searching for something to watch in the wee hours of the night. I am a huge fan of Keira Knightley and Donald Sutherland so I thought I would give the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice a chance. I was definitely NOT disappointed! I fell madly in love with the scenes between Keira and Matthew Macfayden (an actor I hadn’t seen before). And I was pleasantly surprised to see Judi Dench playing Lady Catherine de Bourg. The settings were delightful and the acting superb.
As P&P came to an end, there were other movies given as suggestions and I settled upon Kate & Leopold. Meg Ryan has been a long-time favorite of mine and who can resist anything with Hugh Jackman in it? And again I was pleasantly surprised to see Liev Schrieber in it (Hugh and Liev are favorites from the X-Men movies!). This too was a delightful tale and I loved the chemistry between Meg and Hugh.
I am not always one for chick-flicks, usually preferring dramas, mysteries or science fiction, but last night, these two movies gave me hours of joy!
What gives you joy today? Let me know in the comments!
Throughout the month of January, I will be celebrating Joyful January with Satya and Kaspa over at Writing Our Way Home
Love this version of P & P!!!
It is definitely my new favorite now 🙂 Cheers!
Reading this post gave me joy today.
I am so glad someone else appreciates the charm of Meg Ryan and Kate and Leopold . It’s far too easy to dismiss Kate and Leopold as an unworkable time travel romance, but it is so enjoyable to watch.
Another similar film I enjoy is Prelude to a Kiss with Meg Ryan and Alec Baldwin. It seems to divide opinion amongst the few people who’ve seen it , but whether you love or hate it, the chemistry generated by Meg and Alec is undeniable.
Thank you, Paul! I have not seen Prelude to a Kiss, but it is now on my “must see” list!
